Mechanism Of Action Of CETIRIZINE

• H1 histamine receptor antagonist; competes for H1-receptor sites in target cells in the respiratory tract, blood vessels, and gastrointestinal tract.
• Non-sedative second generation

Therapeutic Indications Of Zyrtec Tablets

• used for the relief of allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy, watery, red eyes and itchy nose and throat.
• It is also being used to treat hives.

Method Of Administration Of Zyrtec Tablets

• Food does not affect the absorption of the drug
• Tablets need to be swallowed with a full glass of water
• For adults & children above 12 years: the recommended dose is 1 tablet at bedtime
• For children 6 – 12 years: the recommended dose is 0.5 – 1 tablet at bedtime
• For children below 6 years: not preferred
• Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions.
• If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
• Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
