Mechanism Of Action Of Diclofenac

• diclofenac which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which works by:

1. Inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX)-1 and COX-2, thereby inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis
2. May also inhibit neutrophil aggregation/activation, inhibit chemotaxis, decrease proinflammatory cytokine level, and alter lymphocyte activity

Therapeutic Indications Of Voltaren Retard Tablets

• joint, muscle or tendon pain
• attacks of gout; a common form of inflammatory arthritis that is very painful. It usually affects one joint at a time (often the big toe joint).
